NEWS: Addressing gaps in protection for migrant workers – report

Published in June 2018, Addressing Gaps in Protection for Migrant Workers, published by the Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB) illustrates the complex nexus between migrant workers from Nepal, labour brokers and the labour users in Gulf States.

The report finds that even with policies to protect workers from exploitative recruitment practices in the labour sourcing country, there are still power imbalances within labour migration corridors, leaving workers vulnerable to exploitation. However, the report reiterates “there are practical steps companies can take to protect workers in their labour supply chains and to protect their companies from reputation and legal risk.”
